Street Art and Sculptures: The Freedom Monument is an approximately 4-meter-high concrete sculpture created by the sculptor Arne Bang from Fensmark. It was erected in 1955 at the base of "Munkebakken" on the 10th day of the liberation. The statue was funded by contributions collected from various associations and private citizens.
Since its installation, the Freedom Monument has served as the focal point for the annual commemoration of the liberation, acting as the gathering spot for the laying of wreaths.
In 2016, during the relocation of the monument, it was separated into its original parts. Divided into three pieces, the figure underwent restoration before being reassembled and placed at its new location at Grønnegades Kaserne, Grønnegade 10, 4700 Næstved.
