Møn Is - local producer with a focus on ecology
At Pollerup Hovgård, also known as “Møn Is”, Gitte and Benjamin reside and manage the farm. The property spans 420 hectares and is home to approximately 160 organic dairy cows. This is an 8th generation family-owned farm with a rich tradition.
In 2010, Møn Is established a small-scale ice cream dairy utilizing milk and cream from their own cows to craft delicious homemade ice cream. Since 2016, Gitte and Benjamin have been transitioning to organic farming; today, the herd and 300 hectares of land are managed organically.
The shift to organic farming has brought significant environmental and biodiversity advantages to the island of Møn. The dairy exclusively uses milk and cream from their carefully tended organic cows, which graze freely with their calves on the farm’s meadows throughout the summer.
Møn Is and Pollerup Hovgård proudly serve as ambassadors for the Møn UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, supporting a vision of sustainable coexistence with nature. Both are official partners of the Møn UNESCO Biosphere.
