Step back to the early 1900s and discover Faxe Ladeplads as it appeared about 100 years ago, faithfully recreated at a 1:10 scale.
At Faxe Ladeplads Miniby and Park, visitors can enjoy the present while exploring the past. Adjacent to the mini golf course, "The old Faxe Ladeplads" is displayed at a 1:10 scale, capturing the city around 1900. The houses are meticulously replicated down to the finest detail, with new buildings continually being added.
If you're curious about the construction process, the mini-village's workshop is always open for visitors to see how the houses are crafted. Refreshments such as coffee, tea, soda, and ice cream are available at the park’s kiosk. While credit cards are not accepted in the mini-town, mobile payments are available.
History:
The idea for the mini village originated in 1998 when a group of former artisans envisioned recreating Faxe Ladeplads as it looked between 1900 and 1920, at a 1:10 ratio. Though Faxe Ladeplads is a relatively young city, its history is remarkable. Until 1863, the town consisted of around 20 houses stretching from Faxe å to Gl. Strandskov. The city expanded rapidly after the Vemmetofte and Bregentved estates collaborated to build a harbor for shipping lime from the nearby quarry.
Starting in the late 1880s, a surge in housing development attracted workers, artisans, and traders, alongside tourism and bathing culture which shaped the city’s character. This era saw about ten large bathing hotels and boarding houses. Although some companies have disappeared over time, several historic buildings still stand today.
Currently, the association has around 110 members, with about 15 contributing daily in the workshop. Beyond building houses, there is a strong focus on social engagement, ensuring the mini-town is a welcoming and pleasant place for all visitors.
